Roy Keane has returned to Nottingham Forest having agreed to become assistant to manager Martin O’Neill, the Championship club have confirmedKeane was offered the chance to return to the first English club he played for when O’Neill succeeded Aitor Karanka in the City Ground hot seat earlier this month, andhe has accepted the position.

O’Neill made clear his desire for Keane to join Forest during his unveiling.He said earlier this month: “I would dearly like him [Keane] to join us.“Overall, he was great for me, and great for the [Ireland] players, and the genuine truth is that I dont think that we would have qualified for the Euros [Euro 2016] without his presence. I have been unflinching in that support.”Keane spent three years playing for Forest after being signed by Brian Clough for 47,000 from Cobh Ramblers.
