talkSPORT host Adrian Durham has issued an emotional plea to Leicester’s James Maddison – “Do not waste your talent by going to Arsenal!”Maddison, 22, has risen the ranks of English football where he started at Coventry before moving to Championship club Norwich in February 2016.3

Maddison has proved an excellent signing for Leicester

He then got his move to the Premier League last summer when Leicester acquired him for a fee believed to be in the region of 20million.The midfielder has enjoyed a good first season in the top flight and received his first call-up to the England side for their UEFA Nations League qualifiers against Croatia and Spain in November.And now Maddison is being tipped for a move to north London as a replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey.

Maddison to Arsenal is a good move for him in the eyes of many but Durham definitely doesn’t believe it would be a wise career move for the Leicester man.So on Wednesday’s edition of Drivetime, Durham issued an emotional plea to Maddison to not go to the Emirates Stadium as he will end up like ‘League One’ Mesut Ozil!Durham said:“I’m actually quite upset about this, I’m actually quite tearful, emotional about it and I want to make a plea to James Maddison.“Do NOT go to Arsenal.3

Durham is certain Arsenal is not the right club for Maddison…or anyone for that matter!

“Look at Mesut Ozil. Similar player but not as good as you are James but he was brilliant before then and look what happened!“He goes and LOOK at him. He’s League One!“Do not go to Arsenal, you will not level out. You will bottom out at Arsenal. It’s such a football vacuum.“Why would you want to go there? You’ll be playing computer games all night and be too tired to play on a Saturday. “It will be incredibly detrimental to your career.“Look at you now – just imagine you’re at Arsenal and you’re putting on the shirt at the Emirates and compare when you first came to Leicester.“You saw Wes Morgan behind you and you probably thought ‘really?’“But you’ll be going to Arsenal and you’ll see Shkodran Mustafi. Then you’ll realise just how bad defenders can be!3

Durham believes Maddison can do better than having the likes of Mustafi as a team-mate

“So James Maddison everything has been going really well – you’ve come from League Two and League One with Coventry and the Championship with Norwich, up to the Premier League, more than holding your own, one of the best English players around.“Do not WASTE that talent by going to Arsenal.”
