I’m A Celebrity: Harry Redknapp recalls the time he thought Prince Harry was a former player of his
As well as being talented at football – both as a player and a manager – Harry Redknapp is a remarkable storyteller. He has treated talkSPORT listeners to some fascinating tales from his days in the game and now he’s providing much entertainment for his fellow camp-mates on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The first episode saw him recount the time he accidentally ran over his wife Sandra in October 2016. Thankfully, Sandra has since recovered from her injuries so the joke was well-received back home. And after having a cold shower at the crack of dawn on day two (Harry was the first celeb to use the iconic shower this series – what a sight), he told his camp-mates of the time he tried to water his wife’s flowers, with a jet-washer!

He said this gardening cock-up led to Sandra nicknaming him ‘Mr Pastry’ because he always makes silly mistakes. It went down well with the camp and these fans on Twitter! However, there was an even better story coming up when former Tottenham manager Harry recalled the time he bumped into Prince Harry. At first he didn’t recognise the Duke of Sussex and even wondered whether His Royal Highness was a former player of his!And Harry told his intrigued audience how, when Prince Harry acknowledged him, he just replied “alright mate” before continuing to read the newspaper in his hand. But this was not the only Royal Harry had failed to recognise. He recalled how he bumped into a young girl and got talking about horse racing. The girl explained her grandmother “loved” the sport. It was only after the conversation happened that Harry was told he was speaking to the Queen’s granddaughter, Princess Beatrice. His camp-mates couldn’t believe it when he revealed his double Royal faux pas’ and neither could these fans. But the latest episode showed there was more to Harry than a few funny stories. He’s a great team player and is perhaps earning himself an I’m a Celebrity cult hero status.Harry has taken on the ‘dunny’ (that’s Australian for toilet) cleaning duties in his camp or as he put it “the s*** shoveler”.He says he’s happy to do it every day as he claims not to have a sense of smell which has made him even more popular in the camp. The odds on Harry winning the show were slashed after his brilliant first day and they will surely shorten more after another magnificent display.Quite simply, ‘Arry can do no wrong so far and you can remain up to date with it all in the Jungle VIP podcast here.
