Werner, whose Leipzig contract runs out in 2020, is believed to have been offered a double-your-money deal by the club to fend off interest from Bayern and Liverpool.German outlet Bild claim the Reds have contacted Leipzig to signal their interest in the 23-year-old.Werner would be seen as an upgrade on Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi, who could both leave Anfield at the end of the season after being used sparingly by manager Jurgen Klopp.Last week, Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick denied reports of Werner agreeing terms to join Bayern this summer.Rangnick said: “A possible agreement is impossible for 2019 (right now). We would have to agree, and we have not. “Nobody has approached us from Bayern. There will not be a case like Leon Goretzka and Robert Lewandowski (players who joined Bayern) between us and Timo Werner. This option does not exist and we do not need to talk about this scenario.Clubs that want him will report in the summer and then we will find a fair, mutually agreed solution. Everything else is not an option.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed Manchester United's injury crisis actually had a negative effect on his players. The two teams played a fairly uneventful goalless draw at Old Trafford and although Klopp's men dominated possession they failed to create any clear-cut chances against their rivals.
