Phil Foden may have to leave Manchester City for the sake of his career, former England star Rio Ferdinand has told talkSPORT.The 18-year-old midfielder has become an important part of Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad but is yet to start a Premier League match for the reigning champions.2

And Ferdinand, the former Manchester United defender and BT Sport pundit, believes the time may come when Foden, whose current deal runs until the summer of 2024, has to evaluate his options if he isn’t getting regular football.In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, he said: “He’s got great potential, but at the end of the day he needs game time.“He’s not going to get that at Manchester City. Jadon Sancho didn’t, so that’s why he left.“He demanded regular football and decided to go to Borussia Dortmund.2
