The win took Roberto Mancinis side ahead of United at the summit of the table on goal difference.It meant City would need to win their two remaining games to get their hands on a first top-flight in 44 years, which they did thanks to Sergio Agueros 95th-minute winner against QPR on the final of the season.But the club would not have been in that position if it was not for Kompanys vital goal in the Manchester derby.

After driving forward with the ball, he unleashed an unstoppable shot which flew past Kasper Schmeichel in the 70th minute.After widely celebrating his first goal in over a year with his team-mates, Kompany remained calm and composed at the back to ensure City held on for the win.Kompany will be lifting his second successive Premier League title if the club beat 17th-placed Brighton on Sunday.
